Stephen the deacon is known only for his Life of St Stephen the Younger (of Mount St. Auxentius near Nicomedia, martyr of the image cult), and all - very little - we know about him comes from this Life. He was very likely deacon of Hagia Sophia and, taking into account his familiarity with the Acts of Nicaea II, maybe he took part in the Council.
