Michael Monachos was a Studite monk and skillful rhetorician. He flourished in the second half of the ninth century and was in close contact with the patriarchate. His works inform us about his career at the Constantinopolitan monastery of Stoudios as well as his membership to the circle of the patriarch Ignatios.
