Arnaud probably became a monk shortly before 1127 at the Benedictine monastery of Bonneval, in the diocese of Chartres. He became abbot before 16 August 1129. In 1130, he took part in the Council of Etampes with Bernard de Clairvaux and was one of Pope Innocent II's supporters during the schism. He contributed to the 1144 peace negotiations between King Louis VII and Thibaud IV Count of Blois and Champagne. He was not heard from again after 1159.
