Michel Italikos was a Byzantine scholar, professor of rhetoric, philosophy, medicine and biblical exegesis, appointed metropolitan of Philippopolis shortly after 1143.
Our main source on him is a collection of his letters and speeches, mostly grouped together in a single manuscript dating from the 13th century, the rest of his writings having disappeared.
