Biography

We know very little about the author. He was a monk named Peter, who: had family links with religious leader; had a connection with Bithynian monasticism; run a monastery. This Life was commissioned by the hegoumenos of the monastery of Agauroi and favourite disciple of the saint Eustratios, but very likely intended to strenghten the position of the patriarch Methodios and his view of Orthodoxy.
